Botulinum toxin is, in general, a poison, but in medicine and cosmetology its role is changing
It is a scientifically proven fact that the use of poison in microdoses can benefit, and it will become a medicine (snake, bee, extracts from poisonous plants). So, Botox, so popular in modern cosmetology, is a drug made from botulinum toxin. Botox injections are not particularly financially costly, do not cause severe pain and smooth out facial wrinkles well. Side effects are extremely rare. There are many supporters of Botox safety, but there are also opponents.
Botulinum toxin (sausage poison) is called a “tamed” poison. In its “wild” form, it causes botulism − the strongest food poisoning. However, back in the 50s of the last century, a safe proportion of dilution of botulinum toxin and its purification for further use in medicine in order to relax muscle spasms was found.
Since 2002, the FDA has officially approved the use of botulinum toxin in cosmetology. To relax facial wrinkles on the forehead, on the bridge of the nose and around the eyes, two types of bacteria are used – A and B.
If you use an injection to make the wrinkle relax (remove the spasm), then for 3-4 months the skin will be smooth and smooth. Then the activity of the muscles is restored, and the fold takes its former position. Therefore, such a rejuvenating procedure should be repeated periodically.
The danger of poisoning the body with botulinum toxin is small, the trouble lies in something else: sometimes it happens that the poison gets not only on the muscle that tightens the skin into a wrinkle, but also on the space around. For example, the botox injection was aimed at relaxing the muscles on the bridge of the nose, but the liquid got into the upper eyelid and the eye closed for several months. A tragicomic situation has developed. The annotation to the use of the drug describes possible side effects and ways to prevent them.
It is very important, if a decision is made to get prettier with the help of botulinum toxin, to choose a qualified specialist and not comb the injection sites.
